Kathmandu, August 25
Miss World 2026 is currently underway in Vietnam, with 111 contestants competing across various categories. Nepal is represented by Miss Nepal Luna Luitel.
Nepal did not advance in the Head-to-Head, Top Model, or Sports categories. However, it has made the finals in the Talent round, where Nepal is among the 23 finalists. If Luna wins this category, Nepal will advance directly to the top 40, the country’s biggest achievement in the competition so far.
According to Miss World’s voting website, Luna currently ranks seventh in the Asia and Oceania region’s “People’s Choice” category with 25,319 votes. Nepal will need more votes to move up in this category.
As of this report, Cambodia leads the “People’s Choice” category. Results for the Talent and Top Model rounds will be announced on August 28.
As in every Miss World competition, Nepal’s main goal this year is to win the “Beauty With Purpose” category, a title Nepal has won several times before.
This year, Luna is presenting a project related to education, health, and entrepreneurship from Falebas in Parbat district. Built with an investment of nearly Rs 15 million, the project has Nepal hopeful of winning the “Beauty With Purpose” title, a hope Luna herself shares.
Nepal’s focus is now centred on this category, where it is seen as a strong contender. The Miss World 2026 grand finale will be held on September 5.
