Nepal crises: Top leaders of three major parties discussing solutions

Kathmandu, January 2

Top leaders of three major parties have started a fresh round talks.

The leaders of the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre are holding the talks at Prime Minister’s Office in Singhadurbar. They are discussing the Constitution Amendment Bill, obstructions in the Parliament, the impeachment motion against suspended CIAA chief commissioner Lok Man Singh Karki and election-related Bills.

On Sunday, leaders from the Centre and the UML had held secret talks. The three parties are holding talks as per an understanding reached during Sunday’s discussions.

 

Merry-go-round? 

  • The three big parties are discussing Constitution amendment, the impeachment motion against suspended CIAA Chief Karki, poll-related Bills and obstructions in the House
  • It comes at a time when the government is preparing to table the Bill in the Parliament
  • Monday’s talks are in keeping with an understanding reached between UML and CPN-Maoist Centre
