Kathmandu, October 16
The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 897,997 as of Saturday afternoon.
The ministry said 147 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.
In this period, 1,446 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 136 returned positive. Likewise, 327 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 11 tested positive.
Of total tests, 9.4 per cent of the PCR and 3.36 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 8.29 per cent.
As of today, there are 12,598 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,054 are hospitalised, 307 in intensive care units and 97 on ventilators.
In the past 24 hours, 845 people have achieved recovery whereas one death has been reported.
Of the total cases so far, 780,776 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,278 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.903per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.
