Nepal Covid-19 tally: 68 new cases, 538 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, March 6

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,117,046 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 68 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 3,135 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 54 returned positive. Likewise, 1,794 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 14 tested positive.

Of total tests, 1.72 per cent of the PCR and 0.78 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 1.37 per cent.

As of today, there are 6,461 active cases across the country. Of them, 123 are hospitalised, 47 in intensive care units and nine on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 538 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were two deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 959,093 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,947 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 98.1 per cent and the death rate is 1.2 per cent.

Meanwhile, 88,566 people were vaccinated today.
