Nepal Covid-19 tally: 6,287 new cases, 5,432 recoveries, 10 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 28

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,068,932 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry said 6,827 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 13,791 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 4,807 returned positive. Likewise, 6,078 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 2,020 tested positive.

Of total tests, 34.85 per cent of the PCR and 33.23 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 34.36 per cent.

As of today, there are 89,941 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,857 are hospitalised, 256 in intensive care units, and 45 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 5,432 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were 10 deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 842,436 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,697 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 89.2 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 128,563 people were vaccinated today.
