Nepal Covid-19 tally: 672 new cases, 490 recoveries, 8 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 905,185 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry said 672 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 7,167 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 582 returned positive. Likewise, 2,328 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 90 tested positive.

Of total tests, 8.12 per cent of the PCR and 3.86 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 7.07 per cent.

As of today, there are 10,375 active cases across the country. Of them, 825 are hospitalised, 254 in intensive care units and 86 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 490 people have achieved recovery whereas eight deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 789,120 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,380 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.3 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 77,207 people were vaccinated today.
