Nepal Covid-19 tally: 5,743 new cases, 3,107 in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, October 21

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 144,872 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry says 5,743 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

Of the new cases, 3,107 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 20,118 swab samples were tested. So far, 1 million and 334,897 people have been tested in the country.

As of today, 44,476 cases are active currently. Among them, 29,800 are in home isolation, and 14,676 are hospitalised.

Likewise, 269 are in intensive care units and 87 on ventilators.

Of the total cases so far, 99,605 people have achieved recovery whereas 791 died, according to the ministry. In the past 24 hours, 2,996 people have been discharged whereas 26 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 68.7 per cent.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Makawanpur, Kavre, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Kaski, Bhaktapur, Rupandehi, Dang, Banke, Surkhet, Dadeldhura, and Kailali have more than 500 active cases each. Mustang has zero cases.

Over 4,000 people are quarantined across the country.
