Nepal Covid-19 tally: 5,087 new cases, 306 recoveries, 3 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 945,609 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry said 5,087 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 13,474 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 4,204 returned positive. Likewise, 7,086 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 883 tested positive.

Of total tests, 31.20 per cent of the PCR and 12.46 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 24.74 per cent.

As of today, there are 18,235 active cases across the country. Of them, 944 are hospitalised, 111 in intensive care units and 25 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 306 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were three deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 815,653 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,613 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 96.5 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 320,267 people were vaccinated today.
