Nepal Covid-19 tally: 4,392 new cases, 3,522 recoveries, 21 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, October 16

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 126,137 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry says 4,392 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

Of the new cases, 2,402 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 16,531 swab samples were tested. So far, 1 million and 254,167 people have been tested in the country.

As of today, 37,382 cases are active currently. Among them, 25,046 are in home isolation, and 12,336 are hospitalised.

Likewise, 315 are in intensive care units and 77 on ventilators.

Of the total cases so far, 88,040 people have achieved recovery whereas 715 died, according to the ministry. In the past 24 hours, 3,522 people have been discharged whereas 21 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 69.8 per cent.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Sunsari, Makawanpur, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Bhaktapur, Rupandehi, Dang, Banke, and Surkhet have more than 500 active cases each.

Over 4,800 people are quarantined across the country.
