Nepal Covid-19 tally: 393 new cases, 263 recoveries, 3 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 4

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 925,950 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The ministry said 393 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 7,794 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 355 returned positive. Likewise, 1,535 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 38 tested positive.

Of total tests, 4.55 per cent of the PCR and 2.47 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 4.21 per cent.

As of today, there are 5,094 active cases across the country. Of them, 260 are hospitalised, 88 in intensive care units and 25 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 263 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were three deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 812,937 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,601 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 98 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 316,774 people were vaccinated today.
