Nepal Covid-19 tally: 3,553 new cases, 271 recoveries, 1 death in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 13

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 940,522 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry said 3,553 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 10,498 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 2,922 returned positive. Likewise, 4,583 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 361 tested positive.

Of total tests, 27.83 per cent of the PCR and 7.87 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 23.55 per cent.

As of today, there are 14,340 active cases across the country. Of them, 837 are hospitalised, 110 in intensive care units and 25 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 271 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there was one death today.

Of the total cases so far, 815,347 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,610 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 96.9 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 356,004 people were vaccinated today.
