Nepal Covid-19 tally: 3,451 new cases, 2,458 recoveries, 35 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, August 16

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 810,853 as of Monday afternoon.

The ministry said 3,451 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 10,093 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which 2,566 returned positive. Likewise, 5,518 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 885 tested positive.

Of total tests, 25.42 per cent of the PCR and 16.03 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 22.03 per cent.

As of today, there are 39,371 active cases across the country. Of them, 3,335 are hospitalised, 795 in intensive care units and 197 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 2,458 people have achieved recovery whereas 35 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 685,140 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 10,327 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 93.2 per cent and the death rate 1.5 per cent.

Likewise, 3,490,065 people have received their full dose of the Covid-19 vaccine while 4,716,936 have received their first dose. Today, 158,335 people were vaccinated throughout the country.
