Nepal Covid-19 tally: 2,942 new cases, 2,326 recoveries, 12 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, October 18

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 132,246 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry says 2,942 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

Of the new cases, 1,698 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 14,875 swab samples were tested. So far, 1 million and 283,354 people have been tested in the country.

As of today, 39,341 cases are active currently. Among them, 26,408 are in home isolation, and 12,933 are hospitalised.

Likewise, 301 are in intensive care units and 66 on ventilators.

Of the total cases so far, 92,166 people have achieved recovery whereas 739 died, according to the ministry. In the past 24 hours, 2,326 people have been discharged whereas 12 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 69.7 per cent.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Sunsari, Makawanpur, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Kaski, Bhaktapur, Rupandehi, Dang, Banke, and Surkhet have more than 500 active cases each. Mustang has zero cases.

Over 4,800 people are quarantined across the country.
