Nepal Covid-19 tally: 293 new cases, 263 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, December 23

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 922,756 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry said 293 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 9,510 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 241 returned positive. Likewise, 2,116 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 52 tested positive.

Of total tests, 2.53 per cent of the PCR and 2.45 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.52 per cent.

As of today, there are 5,161 active cases across the country. Of them, 251 are hospitalised, 96 in intensive care units and 22 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 263 people have achieved recovery whereas two deaths were reported.

Of the total cases so far, 809,922 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,581 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 98 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 282,641 people were vaccinated today.
