Nepal Covid-19 tally: 272 new cases, 777 recoveries, 8 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 897,861 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry said 272 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 2,092 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 240 returned positive. Likewise, 2,620 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 32 tested positive.

Of total tests, 11.47 per cent of the PCR and 1.22 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 5.77 per cent.

As of today, there are 13,308 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,058 are hospitalised, 307 in intensive care units and 101 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 777 people have achieved recovery whereas eight deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 779,931 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,277 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 96.9 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.
