Nepal Covid-19 tally: 2,638 new cases, 2,174 recoveries, 12 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, October 14

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 117,996 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry says 2,638 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

Of the new cases, 1,403 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 13,947 swab samples were tested. So far, 1 million and 221,038 people have been tested in the country.

As of today, 36,367 cases are active currently. Among them, 21,548 are in home isolation, and 14,819 are hospitalised.

Likewise, 305 are in intensive care units, and 70 on ventilators.

Of the total cases so far, 80,954 people have achieved recovery whereas 675 died, according to the ministry. In the past 24 hours, 2,174 people have been discharged whereas 12 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 68.6 per cent.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Sunsari, Makawanpur, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Bhaktapur, Rupandehi, Dang, Banke, and Surkhet have more than 500 active cases each.

Over 4,600 people are quarantined across the country.
