Nepal Covid-19 tally: 2,526 new cases, 8,425 recoveries, 16 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, February 4

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,097,589 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry said 2,526 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 6,655 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 1,602 returned positive. Likewise, 4,418 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 924 tested positive.

Of total tests, 24.07per cent of the PCR and 20.91 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 22.81 per cent.

As of today, there are 56,457 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,367 are hospitalised, 243 in intensive care units and 51 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 8,425 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were 16 deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 895,868 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,794 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 92.9 per cent and the death rate is 1.3 per cent.

Meanwhile, 513,051 people were vaccinated today.
