Nepal Covid-19 tally: 2,444 new cases, 313 recoveries, 1 death in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 11

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 933,894 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The ministry said 2,444 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 10,648 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 1,981 returned positive. Likewise, 4,385 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 463 tested positive.

Of total tests, 18.60 per cent of the PCR and 10.55 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 16.25 per cent.

As of today, there are 9,522 active cases across the country. Of them, 655 are hospitalised, 93 in intensive care units and 19 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 313 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there was one death today.

Of the total cases so far, 814,897 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,607 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.5 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 180,457 people were vaccinated today.
