Nepal Covid-19 tally: 2,401 new cases, 7,777 recoveries, 14 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, February 9

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,106,644 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry said 2,401 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 11,603 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 1,851 returned positive. Likewise, 4,753 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 550 tested positive.

Of total tests, 15.95 per cent of the PCR and 11.57 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 14.67 per cent.

As of today, there are 30,241 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,124 are hospitalised, 242 in intensive care units and 42 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 7,777 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were 14 deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 928,369 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,852 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 95.7 per cent and the death rate is 1.3 per cent.
