Nepal Covid-19 tally: 236 new cases, 272 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, December 22

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 922,463 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry said 236 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 7,266 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 217 returned positive. Likewise, 4,043 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 19 tested positive.

Of total tests, 2.98 per cent of the PCR and 0.46 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.08 per cent.

As of today, there are 5,185 active cases across the country. Of them, 237 are hospitalised, 92 in intensive care units and 27 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 272 people have achieved recovery whereas two deaths were reported.

Of the total cases so far, 809,659 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,579 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 98 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 239,661 people were vaccinated today.
