Nepal Covid-19 tally: 235 new cases, 212 recoveries, 4 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, December 31

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 924,633 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry said 235 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 7,885 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 224 returned positive. Likewise, 1,199 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 11 tested positive.

Of total tests, 2.84 per cent of the PCR and 0.91 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.58 per cent.

As of today, there are 4,879 active cases across the country. Of them, 228 are hospitalised, 89 in intensive care units and 24 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 212 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were four deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 811,958 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,594 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 98 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 139,152 people were vaccinated today.
