Nepal Covid-19 tally: 2,253 new cases, 1,599 in Kathmandu

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 86,823 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry says 2,253 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

Of the new cases, 1,599 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 12,784 swab samples were tested. So far, 1 million and 74,448 people have been tested in the country.

As of today, 22,219 cases are active currently. Among them, 11,893 are in home isolation, and 10,326 are hospitalised. Likewise, 226 are in intensive care units, and 34 on ventilators.

Of the total cases so far, 64,069 people have achieved recovery whereas 535 died, according to the ministry. In the past 24 hours, 1,329 people have been discharged whereas seven deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 73.7 per cent.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Siraha, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Bhaktapur, and Rupandehi have more than 500 active cases each. Manang, Mustang, and Dolpa do not have any active cases.

Over 4,200 people are quarantined across the country.
