Nepal Covid-19 tally: 20,000+ active cases as test count crosses 1 million, 55,000+ recovered

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 76,258 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The ministry says 1,513 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours. Of them, 934 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 10,891 swab samples were tested. So far, 1,009,298 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far, 55,371 people have achieved recovery whereas 491 died, according to the ministry. In the past 24 hours, 731 people have been discharged whereas 10 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 72.6 per cent.

The other 20,396 cases are active currently. Of them, 10,007 are in home isolation and 9,689 hospitalised.

Of those hospitalised, 213 are in intensive care units and 34 on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Siraha, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Bhaktapur, and Rupandehi have more than 500 active cases each. Manang, Mustang, Dolpa, Mugu, and Humla do not have any active cases.

Over 5,700 people are quarantined across the country.
