Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,957 new cases, 5,103 recoveries, 11 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, February 8

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,104,243 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The ministry said 1,570 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 8,587 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 1,184 returned positive. Likewise, 4,105 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 773 tested positive.

Of total tests, 13.78 per cent of the PCR and 18.83 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 15.41 per cent.

As of today, there are 36,181 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,198 are hospitalised, 256 in intensive care units and 38 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 5,103 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were 11 deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 920,592 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,838 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 95 per cent and the death rate is 1.3 per cent.

Meanwhile, 273,349 people were vaccinated today.
