Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,911 new cases including 943 in Kathmandu

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 79,728 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry says 1,911 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours. Of them, 943 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 12,444 swab samples were tested. So far, 1 million and 31,947 people have been tested in the country.

As of today, 21,830 cases are active currently. Among them, 11,069 are in home isolation and 10,761 are hospitalised. Likewise, 220 are in intensive care units and 25 on ventilators.

Of the total cases so far, 57,389 people have achieved recovery whereas 509 died, according to the ministry. In the past 24 hours, 961 people have been discharged whereas 11 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 71.9 per cent.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Siraha, Sunsari, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Bhaktapur, and Rupandehi have more than 500 active cases each. Manang, Mustang, Dolpa, and Mugu do not have any active cases.

Over 5,000 people are quarantined across the country.
