Nepal Covid-19 tally: 184 new cases, 267 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, December 16

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 921,073 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry said 184 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 7,230 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 160 returned positive. Likewise, 3,788 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 24 tested positive.

Of total tests, 2.12 per cent of the PCR and 0.63 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 1.66 per cent.

As of today, there are 5,526 active cases across the country. Of them, 279 are hospitalised, 111 in intensive care units and 28 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 267 people have achieved recovery whereas two deaths were reported.

Of the total cases so far, 808,083 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,567 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.9 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 240,564 people were vaccinated today.
