Nepal Covid-19 tally: 181 new cases, 289 recoveries, 1 death in 24 hours

Kathmandu, December 19

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 921,717 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 181 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 4,831 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 133 returned positive. Likewise, 5,041 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 48 tested positive.

Of total tests, 2.75 per cent of the PCR and 0.95 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 1.83 per cent.

As of today, there are 5,271 active cases across the country. Of them, 248 are hospitalised, 100 in intensive care units and 26 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 289 people have achieved recovery whereas one death was reported.

Of the total cases so far, 808,892 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,573 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 98 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 97,026 people were vaccinated today.
