Nepal Covid-19 tally: 167 new cases, 226 recoveries, 1 death in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 923,183 as of Saturday afternoon.

The ministry said 167 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 4,283 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 157 returned positive. Likewise, 2,164 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 10 tested positive.

Of total tests, 3.66 per cent of the PCR and 0.46 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.59 per cent.

As of today, there are 4,978 active cases across the country. Of them, 234 are hospitalised, 81 in intensive care units and 22 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 226 people have achieved recovery whereas one death was reported.

Of the total cases so far, 810,497 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,583 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 98 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 255,458 people were vaccinated today.
