Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,446 new cases, 255 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 10

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 931,450 as of Monday afternoon.

The ministry said 1,446 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 8,965 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 1,357 returned positive. Likewise, 2,464 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 89 tested positive.

Of total tests, 15.13 per cent of the PCR and 3.61 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 12.65 per cent.

As of today, there are 7,855 active cases across the country. Of them, 610 are hospitalised, 67 in intensive care units and 16 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 255 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were two deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 814,485 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,606 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.7 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 210,594 people were vaccinated today.
