Nepal Covid-19 tally: 12,008 new cases, 3,040 recoveries, 8 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 25

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,045,634 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The ministry said 12,008 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 18,103 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 9,432 returned positive. Likewise, 7,806 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 2,576 tested positive.

Of total tests, 52.10 per cent of the PCR and 33 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 46.34 per cent.

As of today, there are 88,934 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,817 are hospitalised, 245 in intensive care units and 44 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 3,040 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were eight deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 827,279 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,667 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 89.2 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 239,851 people were vaccinated today.
