Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,167 new cases, 224 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 930,004 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 1,167 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 8,848 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 841 returned positive. Likewise, 3,784 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 326 tested positive.

Of total tests, 9.50 per cent of the PCR and 8.61 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 9.23 per cent.

As of today, there are 6,755 active cases across the country. Of them, 628 are hospitalised, 77 in intensive care units and 16 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 224 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were two deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 814,230 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,604 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.8 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 45,493 people were vaccinated today.
