Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,078 new cases, 911 recoveries, 12 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 887,014 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry said 1,078 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 8,555 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 898 returned positive. Likewise, 3,210 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 180 tested positive.

Of total tests, 10.49 per cent of the PCR and 5.60 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 9.16 per cent.

As of today, there are 18,168 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,366 are hospitalised, 353 in intensive care units and 117 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 911 people have achieved recovery whereas 12 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 765,758 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,135 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 96.3 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 289,381 people were vaccinated today.
