Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,041 new cases, 1,566 recoveries, 9 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 45,277  as of Saturday afternoon.

In his daily press briefing in Kathmandu, the ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said 1,041 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours. Of the new cases, 408 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 12,473 swab samples were tested. So far, 757,963 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far 27,127 people have achieved recovery whereas  280 died, according to him. In the past 24 hours, 1,566 people have been discharged whereas nine deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 60 per cent.

The other 17,870 cases are active currently.

Of those hospitalised, 166 are in intensive care units and 24 are on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Sunsari, Dhanusha, Parsa, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Bara, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Lalitpur, and Kathmandu have more than 500 active cases each. Solukhumbu, Taplejung, Mustang, Dolpa, Mugu, and Humla do not have any active cases.

Over 6,701 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
