Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,066 new cases, 938 recoveries, 13 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, October 1

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 887,680 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry said 1,066 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 10,113 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 898 returned positive. Likewise, 3,255 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 168 tested positive.

Of total tests, 8.87 per cent of the PCR and 5.16 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 7.97 per cent.

As of today, there are 18,115 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,234 are hospitalised, 354 in intensive care units and 116 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 938 people have achieved recovery whereas 13 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 766,696 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,148 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 96.3 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 217,391 people were vaccinated today.
