Nepal Covid-19 tally: 679 new cases, 1,405 recoveries, 7 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 889,226 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 679 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 7,070 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 574 returned positive. Likewise, 3,580 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 105 tested positive.

Of total tests, 8.11 per cent of the PCR and 2.93 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 6.21 per cent.

As of today, there are 16,804 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,270 are hospitalised, 337 in intensive care units and 104 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 1,405 people have achieved recovery whereas seven deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 769,224 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,164 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 96.4 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 26,419 people were vaccinated today.
