Nepal Covid-19 tally: 10,258 new cases, 562 recoveries, 1 death in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 18

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 972,198 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The ministry said 10,258 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 17,872 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 8,730 returned positive. Likewise, 4,956 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 1,528 tested positive.

Of total tests, 48.84 per cent of the PCR and 30.83 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 44.93 per cent.

As of today, there are 39,044 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,218 are hospitalised, 151 in intensive care units and 28 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 562 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there was one death today.

Of the total cases so far, 817,547 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,624 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 94.2 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 213,148 people were vaccinated today.
