National Assembly members’ incumbency to be decided through drawing of lots on June 18

The incumbency of National Assembly members will be decided through a drawing of lots on June 18.

As per the the constitutional provision, the tenure of one-third members of the National Assembly will complete at the end of two years. The National Assembly regulation was prepared considering the same provision.

The work duration of 19 members will be set for two years through drawing of lots for the first time.

Similarly, incumbency of 20 National Assembly members will be set for four years and remaining 20 will be set for six years through the method.

Except for the Dalit and differently-abled categories, drawing of lots will be held among all the National Assembly members from each province.

For example, drawing of lots will be held among National Assembly President Ganesh Timilsina, Nepal Communist Party Parliamentary Party leader Dinanath Sharma, and main opposition party leader Surendra Raj Pandey.

Chits will be picked randomly from the bowl and one of them will be working for two years, other will work for four years and the remaining one will work for next six years.
