Kathmandu, November 16

As many as 17 houses and three shacks operating as shops were gutted in a fire incident in Gamgadhi, Mugu district headquarters, in the wee hours of Tuesday. In addition, one house has been demolished while controlling the fire.

A diyo light at the house of Khimme Lama had ignited the fire at around 12;30 am today, informs DSP Chitra Bahadur Bhattarai, the chief of the District Police Office. Security personnel assisted by locals contained the fire in the next four hours.

Because the houses in the neighbourhood were made of wood and connected to each other, the fire spread quickly, according to police.

No human casualty has been reported. DSP Bhattarai says the amount of loss of properties is yet to be estimated.
