Minister says ‘His Majesty’s Government, then apologises

File: Mani Thapa

Kathmandu, January 31

While addressing a public function in Surkhet on Saturday, Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Mani Thapa said, “Shree Panchko Sarkar” (His Majesty’s government), the name of the government of Nepal during the monarchy.

Apparently, Thapa was referring to the current government, and it was hit slip of the tongue.

However, it dragged him under fire, forcing the minister to issue an apology the next day.

“You are aware that I mistakenly said something else instead of the government of Nepal while addressing my cadres,” Thapa wrote on social media this morning.

“I would like to humbly let you know that I do not support regression as I have spent my entire political life for a revolution and change. I would like to apologise for using those words by mistake.”
