Minister Prabhu Sah accused of hit and run

Tamang who was hit by Minister Sah’s car is currently at a local medical facility in Sarlahi.

Janakpurdham, January 3

A car carrying newly appointed Minister for Urban Development Prabhu Sah has hit a pedestrian, injuring him in the process in Hariwan, Sarlahi on Saturday. The car, after hitting 35-year-old Bachu Tamang of Lalbandi Municipality, fled the scene, according to locals.

Tamang has wounds on his lower back and legs and is currently being attended to at Swabhiman Hospital located near the accident site.

“Multiple sources who saw the incident have confirmed that the car belonged to Minister Sah,” a police officer told Onlinekhabar. “We’ve informed higher authorities about the case.”

Sah, however, said that he left the scene because Tamang didn’t look hurt and stated that neither him nor the diver was to blame.

After the news circulated through social media, Sah, through, Facebook said that the incident has been exaggerated in an attempt to defame him and questioned the police’s role in inflating the situation.

“I am seriously concerned that the Nepal Police irresponsibly presented itself saying the vehicle was found to be of Minister Prabhu Sah although it was informed of my journey,” he wrote on Facebook.

The incident’s video has been widely shared on social media.
