From mid-August, Nepal Airlines to fly thrice to Dubai every week

Kathmandu, July 17

Nepal’s flag carrier is resuming its operations to the United Arab Emirates, about a month from now. The regular flights to Dubai, stopped since August 2012 owing to a shortage of planes after more than a decade-long operation, will resume from August 18. Dubai is a lucrative sector with a sizeable presence of Nepali migrant workers.

NA has already appointed Azman National Travel Agency as its general sales agent. It will operate three flights to Dubai every week through Azman — on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The NA Airbus will leave for Dubai from Kathmandu at 11.30 pm and return to Kathmandu at 10.10 am the next day.

Dubai is an attractive destination for Nepali workers. According to estimates, there are around five lakh Nepali workers in the city. NA hopes to draw a good number of Nepali workers on their way to Dubai and on their way home.

Dubai is also a tourist attraction and a very busy transit city. Nepal’s flag-carrier also expects to draw tourists on its flights. Of late,  more and more Nepalis are heading to Dubai for recreation.

The flag-carrier aims to attract these segments.
