Nepal’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Tej Bahadur Chhetri, has said that all Nepalis residing in the UAE are currently safe. In a conversation with Onlinekhabar, he clarified that Nepalis within the UAE remain secure.
Following attacks on Iran by Israel and the United States, Iran has been targeting US military base camps in several Middle Eastern countries. International media have reported that the US military base camp in the UAE has also come under attack.
According to Ambassador Chhetri, there were one or two missile strike incidents today as well, targeting a US airbase. However, he said the attacks were intercepted and normal life is continuing.
“Debris may occasionally fall, as intercepted objects could drop,” he said. “But overall, Nepalis are safe.”
Saturday and Sunday are public holidays in the UAE. As a result, citizens and migrant workers have been staying at home yesterday and today. With the month of Ramadan also underway, outdoor activities have been minimal.
“The government itself has advised people to stay safely at home. In such a situation, the best option is to remain indoors. So far, all Nepalis in the UAE are safe,” Ambassador Chhetri said.
The UAE government has issued detailed guidelines on security and air safety. He urged the Nepali community to fully comply with those directives. “Air safety and security guidelines have been issued, and it is best to follow them,” he said. “If the government has instructed people not to go outside, that instruction should be followed.”
Ambassador Chhetri added that the embassy has been in continuous contact with Nepalis. “Our team is working, phone calls are coming in, and conversations are ongoing,” he said. “At such times, the most important thing is to follow the instructions given by the host government.”
He also urged people to avoid unnecessary movement, stay away from crowded areas, and rely only on official information. “One should not move around unnecessarily. At times, debris from intercepted objects may fall,” he said.
Reiterating the need to follow notices issued by the embassy and the UAE government’s security directives, Ambassador Chhetri appealed to the Nepali community to remain calm and vigilant.
