Memorial service held in Bhugol Park in memory of Gorkha earthquake victims

A memorial service was held in Bhugol Park, New Road, on Sunday to pay tributes to the victims of the Gorkha earthquake that rocked the country on April 25, 2015, killing around 9,000 people, rendering thousands homeless and destroying infrastructure worth trillions of rupees.

Earthen lamps were lit at the memorial that had Yogi Naraharinath Trust and Hanuman Aradhanamandal Nepal as organisers. Political leaders and members of the public took part in the event.

The Bhugol Park was built in memory of the Great Earthquake of 1990 BS.

Meanwhile, Lama priests offered prayers for those who died in the quakes, close to Kasthamandap, Kathmandu. At Basantapur, youths created a huge artwork of Kasthamandap as part of the campaign Hami Uthnechhaun (We Will Rise).
