Janakpurdham, May 16

Police on Monday made public an alleged murderer of media entrepreneur Arun Singhaniya.

They informed that a team from the crime investigation branch in Dhanusha nabbed Manak Lama, the alleged shooter, from an area close to Biratnagar along the Nepal-India border. Lama, according to police, has admitted to killing Singhaniya for the sake of money.

Lama reportedly told police during investigation that he had made a deal with Ram Binod Yadav and Ek Lal Sahani to shoot and kill Singhaniya. As per the deal, they were to get eight lakh to one million rupees each.

On that day (March 1, 2010), a team comprising Chandra Dip Yadav, Ek Lal and Pavan Lama, among others, stayed at Hotel Rama in Janakpur and boozed. Later on, Manak shot and killed Singhaniya at Shiva Chok for money. During interrogation, Manak reportedly told police that he did not get the money.

After committing the crime, Lama had stayed at Malaysia and different cities in India to evade arrest.

Superintendent of Police, Ram Dutta Joshi, said: With Manak Lama arrested, we will soon be able to nab other criminals involved in the Singhaniya murder. Police have so far arrested six people in connection with the Singhaniya killing.
