Kathmandu, October 9

Special sales and exchange services for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders will be available at six locations across the Kathmandu Valley from Sunday, October 11, to help consumers obtain gas more easily during the festive season.

The Nepal LP Gas Industry Association said the service would operate daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm until Saturday, October 17.

Different brands of LPG will be available at the designated centres. Everest and Sugam gas cylinders will be sold and exchanged at Gas and Oxygen Traders in Sifalchaur, Kathmandu; Sagar gas will be available in Pepsi Cola; and Nepal, HP, Geeta, Rajdhani and Triveni gas cylinders will be available outside the gate of the Balaju Industrial Estate.

Similarly, Baba and Shree gas cylinders will be available in Sukedhara, Saibaba and Shreekrishna gas in Kalanki, and Shriram gas in Harisiddhi, Lalitpur. Consumers can also contact the centres by phone.

The association said LPG imports from various Indian refineries were proceeding smoothly, with 4,213,661 cylinders sold and distributed in August alone.

Association President Diwan Chand said the arrangement was introduced after some consumers reported difficulties obtaining gas and exchanging cylinders of different brands ahead of the festivals, despite adequate supplies in the Valley.

The service has been introduced in coordination with Nepal Oil Corporation and in cooperation with the Gas Dealers Federation.

The association clarified that only cylinders belonging to its member companies distributed in the Kathmandu Valley can be exchanged at the designated centres. Cylinder exchanges will not be available at other locations.
