The Banke District Administration Office has imposed lockdown in the Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan city for one week beginning Wednesday midnight.

Earlier, the District Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre had recommended the restriction to control the spread of the coronavirus in the district.

An order issued by the Chief District Officer Shiva Ram Gelal says emergency services such as ambulances and grocery supplying vehicles can operate in this period also. Even pre-scheduled examinations can also take place, according to the order.

With the second wave of the pandemic entering the country, Nepalgunj has become the first place to impose lockdown this year.
