The locals of the Sisdol landfill area have yet again obstructed the disposal of waste taken to the area by the Kathmandu metropolitan city.
Sisardol landfill site in-charge Sarkar Deep Shrestha says the locals have stopped them from dumping garbage even today.
“There are obstacles everywhere. The trucks have stopped,” Shrestha tells Onlinekhabar. “Discussions are underway on how to proceed.”
On Tuesday, the locals had stopped garbage trucks from entering the Sisdol landfill area saying that the city officials had not coordinated with the locals and that their demands had not been met. The police even arrested some locals from the area for causing obstructions.
Waste has not been collected from Kathmandu and Lalitpur metropolitan cities since May 28.
