Kathmandu, September 25
Rainwater mixed with sludge has begun flowing into the landfill site at Sisdol, disrupting waste transport and disposal, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has said.
The metropolitan office has asked residents to hold off putting garbage out, saying disposal operations will be suspended for some time. It has also urged households, shops, businesses, and compounds not to dump waste on roads, in public squares, in open spaces, or into rivers and streams.
The metropolitan office said waste collection and transport will resume as usual once the rain eases and conditions at the landfill site return to normal.
