Daily life in nine districts of eastern Nepal has been affected due to a general strike called by Rastriya Janamukti Party Limbuwan Rajya Parishad.

Markets, industries and academic institutions in the districts east of Arun River including Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa, Sunsari, Morang, Terhathum, Dhankuta and Sankhuwasabha have been shut since early morning.

Likewise, public transportation has been obstructed in these districts.

Limbuwan activists have been marking Shrawan 22 of Nepali calendar every year as the Black Day as they say a treaty signed on this very day cost them autonomy.

Meanwhile, the bandh enforcers say they will let motorbikes, vehicles of press and diplomatic missions, ambulances, fire trucks and hearses play smoothly.
