Left task force discussing National Assembly polls, provincial govt formation

Kathmandu, January 12

A joint task force the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre formed to discuss how they can share National Assembly seats and powerful positions of provincial governments is holding its first meeting in Kathmandu today.

The panel has three members from each party: Subas Chandra Nembang, Shankar Pokharel and Surendra Pandey from the UML and Ram Bahadur Thapa, Barsha Man Pun and Matrika Yadav from the Maoist Centre.

Members of the panel Nembang says the meeting will discuss preparations for the National Assembly polls and proposed unification between two parties.

The Election Commission has set the date of January 24 to file nominations for the polls. Therefore, the task force plans to finalise the left alliance candidates for the polls before that.
